Energy sobriety: Toulouse wins the energy savings challenge against Bordeaux
Toulouse Engie customers participating in the challenge reduced their electricity consumption by 17.79% between November 21 and December 18.
The Toulouse customers of the Engie electricity supplier won the energy savings challenge against the Bordeaux customers. Over the period from November 21 to December 18, 2022, City customers reduced their electricity consumption by 17.79% compared to the same period last year, compared to a drop of 15.96% for customers of Bordeaux.
40,000 euros to an association
In this challenge, in which 1,100 customers equipped with a Linky meter took part, the results are calculated by comparing the electricity consumption of the past year to the same period. It was mainly on heating, the main consumption item, that the victory was decided.
To reward the winning city, Engie donated 40,000 euros to the “Stop à l’Exclusion Énergétique” association to renovate precarious housing in Toulouse.
Toulouse Engie customers who took part in the challenge also win 300 “KiloActs”, points that they can then use to support virtuous actions and the energy transition as part of ENGIE’s “My Program for Action” program.
“Participating in challenges to reduce consumption, whether individual or collective, as here between customers in Toulouse and Bordeaux, encourages them to monitor their energy consumption with the aim of reducing it”, explains Aurélie Ribault, Director of Engie’s “My Program for Action”.
Faced with an unprecedented energy crisis, the public authorities are calling for the adoption of the
energy sobriety, both collectively and individually. Engie, which has set itself the goal for several years of helping its customers consume less and better, has provided them with a range of tools to help them reduce their energy consumption.
Fourth such challenge
Since the beginning of 2020, “My Program for Action” has enabled customers, through the actions they carry out under this program, to support projects in favor of the energy transition, to help start-ups which are developing a eco-responsible, make a donation to a partner association or even buy an object to reduce your carbon impact.
The challenge between Toulouse and Bordeaux was the fourth of this type organized by Engie since 2021.
