Truck touches tram catenary and catches fire
Action for the police and fire brigade: A vegetable truck caught fire due to the high current of a tram overhead line on Chiemgaustrasse in Munich.
Munich/Ramersdorf – In Munich, a truck caught fire on Tuesday morning while driving. Due to the use of the fire brigade, Chiemgaustrasse was closed, and property damage amounted to several tens of thousands of euros.

The semi-trailer of the truck touched the tram overhead line at around 5:45 a.m. and the high current caused it to catch fire, the police reported.
The fire brigade was deployed to extinguish the truck full of vegetables. In order to get into the interior of the trailer, the emergency services used a rescue saw and a cut-off grinder.
According to the fire department, the truck was then driven onto a commercial property and the emptying was taken over by a specialist company.
No person was injured in the fire.
However, the metal cover of the overhead line was damaged and the roof of the semi-trailer burned through, completely destroying the loaded vegetables as well.
