Lisbon is the best city in Europe for digital nomads – Executive Digest
Portugal and Spain are part of the range of countries that already have special visas for remote workers with their Digital Nomadic Visas initiative. Among the various cities on the Iberian Peninsula, the Portuguese capital was selected as the best option for these workers.
According to Holidu’s Workation Index, which ranks cities according to several important factors for digital nomads, Lisbon is not only the best city for digital nomads in the Iberian Peninsula, but it also ranks first in the European ranking.
“Home of the delicious pastel de nata, excellent wine, and hum of energy as the sons of fado fill the streets. The city also offers remote workers easy access to a number of beaches, perfect for an early morning or late afternoon dip, with taxis costing just the equivalent of €0.37 per km.
In second place in this ranking is the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona, which also occupies second place in both Iberia and Europe. The unique architecture of the city, by painters like Gaudi, the second largest number of co-working spaces in Europe after London, with 136 dedicated co-working spaces, or the speed of the Internet were some of the factors that led Barcelona to receive silver in this ranking.
Completing the Iberian podium is the Spanish capital, Madid. “With a lure of attracting expats from all over the world, it’s not surprising that Madrid is a digital nomad’s paradise. Madrid is a delight for anyone who loves culture, with many world-class museums such as the Prado among the nearly 2000 most important “things” to do.
The city of Porto is the fourth best city on the Iberian Peninsula for digital nomads “due to the many “things” to do and see”, followed by Valencia, Malaga, Seville and Faro.
