Dog “Sammy” finally safe
“Sammy”, adopted as a foreign street dog in Germany, escaped from Munich Airport on January 2nd. Now he’s been caught.
Update from January 11, 11:49 a.m.: The runaway dog ”Sammy” is safe again after a week-long odyssey at Munich Airport. In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, he was caught in Oberding using a live trap, the police said on Wednesday. The approximately six-month-old dog was slightly emaciated, but otherwise in good condition.
Update from January 4, 4:11 p.m.: An escaped dog is still on the move in the area around Munich Airport (see initial report). “He was sighted again, but could not be caught,” said a police spokesman on Wednesday afternoon. During the usual patrols, the animal will continue to be looked out for.
The Munich Animal Search Aid called for no attempts at capture and to keep away from the dog. “It just doesn’t work,” said Katharina Kaindl. “When the dog is in its escape mode, walking is not part of human behavior.” Instead, you should report to the police or the animal search service if you have seen the dog. “If there is a sighting, the dog is fed and later a special live trap is set.”

Dog escapes at Munich Airport: “Zentralallee had to be partially closed”
“As part of his adventurous escape, he ran across several streets of the airport, so that the central avenue had to be partially closed twice at short notice,” writes the police inspection Munich Airport further in her report. Despite intensive and ongoing fighting by the police and the airport, the dog has not yet been caught. He will continue to be sighted regularly in the airport area, so that dangerous traffic situations are not real.
The animal is about six months old, brown, knee-high and goes by the name “Sammy”. According to the police, nothing is known about the dog’s aggressiveness or illnesses – he is rather shy. Anyone who sees the dog is asked not to try to catch it, but to inform the Munich Airport Police Inspectorate immediately on Tel. (0 89) 979-0. vam
