Rewilding Portugal wants to reward audiovisual works that promote natural, ecological and cultural values. The competitive sections of the Do(C)ôa – Nature Film Festival are open to films, documentaries or television reports, with a maximum duration of 30 minutes, that have been produced after 2018.
The festival appears as part of the first edition of the landscape art festival CÔA – Corredor das Artes, also designed by the private non-profit organization based in Guarda. The event will take place in July, in the Greater Côa Valley, over five weeks and weekends, in five municipalities in the region (Sabugal, Almeida, Figueira, Castelo Rodrigo, Pinhel and Vila Nova de Foz Côa).
According to the organization, Do(C)ôa is “a festival of environmental/nature short films, which aims to promote, exhibit and reward audiovisual works in short films and/or documentaries, focusing on environmental/research issues. nature, produced in any part of the country”.
The works in competition must be produced “by directors/producers who live in Portugal (regardless of their nationality) and whose shooting has also been done in Portugal”, said the Renaturalizing Portugal. “The best director without any age limitation will be awarded, who will receive a prize of a thousand euros, and the best young director (up to 30 years old), who will receive a prize of 500 euros”, said the organization.
The festival jury will be composed of three elements: a member of Rewilding Portugal, a personality from the cinematographic and environmental environment and a personality from the local/regional cinematographic environment.
The registration of works in competition must be carried out online, until the 31st of April, by filling in an online form. The selection of finalists who will participate in the festival’s film screening will be made public until the 1st of June.
The final show, where the two big winners of the Do(C)ôa — Nature Film Festival will be announced, will take place in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, in the district of Guarda, on the 30th of July.
