David Guion: “Caen’s best player was the goalkeeper”
In a post-match press conference and via ARL, David Guion returned in general to the draw between Stade Malherbe de Caen and the Girondins de Bordeaux (2-2), on behalf of the 18th day of Ligue 2.
“It’s obviously a big frustration. When you win 2-0 away at half-time, when you start this game well, and you end up with a draw, there is indeed frustration. There is also frustration with the way we take goals, in an area in which we are usually very efficient, even if the Caennais shoot set pieces very well. Now, there is frustration on the first but because not only is there a fault for us, but in addition there is offside, so it is double the penalty on this goal. This but also arrives a little early, and the Caennais had a lot of set pieces, and not many situations. We defended well, then there was this equalizer from a corner. With the expulsion, we suffered a lot, with a lot of set pieces in particular. We defended well, but we suffered a lot of set pieces. And then afterwards, I found that over the last ten minutes, with the expulsion of the Caennais, my players did everything to go and score that third goal. So there were still some resources. I think that in this match, the big disappointment above all is not having put this third but when there was room. Caen’s best player was the keeper, especially in the second half, he left them in the game. If we put this third but, we turn off the game and it’s over.
