Tardelli sees Juventus ahead of Milan in Scudetto race
World Cup winner Marco Tardelli won Juventus ahead of defending champions Milan in the Scudetto race, but Napoli “remain the favourites”.
The Partenopei are already crowned winter champions with two rounds to spare, having opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the standings.
Thanks to an eight-game winning streak while keeping clean sheets, Juve have now caught up with Milan in joint second place.
“Napoli are still the favourites, because how could they not be with 44 points already?” 1982 hero Tardelli told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Losing against Inter can happen, but I saw Napoli play really relaxed and comfortable against Sampdoria, regaining the confidence they lost in Milan.
“It’s still a bit early to say they’ve sewn the Scudetto, because it’s still early January.”
Juventus looked completely out of the running a few months ago, but the surge with points dropping Milan and Inter this weekend changed the scenario.
“I think Juventus can believe in the title, because eight wins in a row without conceding is remarkable. I don’t know if it will be enough for the Scudetto, but they are moving up the table.
“The Bianconeri are putting a lot of pressure on the teams above them, certainly Milan, but also now Napoli.”
Former Juventus midfielder Tardelli has admitted that when it comes to quality of entertainment, Juve are not in the frame.
“Napoli and Milan certainly play better football than Juve.”
