LTO lobby in Europe strengthened
On January 1, 2023, Christiaan Boiten started as a new lobbyist for LTO Netherlands in Brussels. He completed the LTO International Team, which was also strengthened in October with the arrival of Job Knobbout. Together with Klaas Johan Osinga, who has many years of experience in Brussels, she forms the International Team.
Jesse Schevel, as a lobbyist from Greenhouse Horticulture Netherlands, will partly be based on the team.
The consequences of European nature, climate and energy policy are having an increasing effect on agriculture/horticulture in the Netherlands. With the International Team up, LTO wants to do its utmost in Europe for workable policy for farmers and horticulturists that is based on facts and not on emotions.’
While LTO works together with other partner organizations that operate in Europe from the Netherlands, with colleagues from farmers’ organizations from other countries and within the European umbrella organization Copa & Cogeca. LTO is also a member of the World Farmers’ Organisation.
The administrative portfolio holder is the chairman of LTO Nederland, Sjaak van der Tak. He represents LTO Netherlands in the board of COPA-COGECA.
Casting
As of January 1, team members will focus on the following portfolios:
- Christian Booten: Head of Office in Brussels, European Green Deal (Farm2Fork, Biodiversity and Fitfor55), financing (such as Basel IV), coordination of LTO representations in COPA-COGECA.
- Klaas Johan Osinga: markets, trade agreements and competition, CAP, knowledge and innovation, World Farmers’ Organisation, international cooperation (including Agriterra). First performance individual sectors LTO-wide.
- Job Knob Bolt: nature, water and soil policy, communication.
- Jesse Shevel: lobbyist from Greenhouse Horticulture Netherlands and first important crucial sectors LTO-wide.
Despite the division of roles, the team members will work closely together.
