24. Black Movie shows films on topics that move people
On Tuesday Black Movie, Geneva’s international festival of independent films, announced the program of its 24th edition. From January 20th to 29th, 91 films from more than 50 countries will be shown. They address patriarchy, death, the reasons for young people and the dream of a happy life.

- During ten days, 23 filmmakers will be welcomed and will carry four prizes.
More than a hundred volunteers will be on duty to oversee the event, which attracted up to 30,000 people before the corona pandemic and is now returning to cinemas.
The 91 films include 51 feature-length films and 40 short films, including 54 Swiss premieres. The films are divided into eight thematic sections, for example “To Be Follow…” with films such as “Luxembourg, Luxembourg” by Antonio Lukich (Ukraine) or “Walk Up” by Hong Sangsoo (South Korea). In the “Unleashed” section, patriarchy and its unified disintegration are the central themes – with films such as “The Fourth Wall” by Mahboobeh Kalaee (Iran) or “The Sales Girl” by Janchivdorj Sengedorj (Mongolia).
