Slovenia will promote the installation of batteries for prosumers
The Slovenian Environmental Public Fund (Eko Sklad) will start granting incentives to consumers for solar photovoltaic systems with batteries. So far, subsidies to households and businesses have only been granted for PV systems without batteries.
The trend of installing batteries in Europe was further fueled by the energy crisis and the impact of the war in Ukraine. At the end of last year, more than one million homes or 50% more as in 2021.
Slovenia intends to support the activity with subsidies and reduce the gap behind the most advanced countries: Germany, Italy, Great Britain and Austria.
Subsidies for power plants with batteries are ten times higher than for power plants without storage
According to the Slovenian incentive scheme, subsidies for rooftop solar systems with batteries are ten times higher than for those without them. Households and companies could receive up to 500 euros per kilowatt-hour of the installed power of the facility with batteries, but only 50 euros for photovoltaic systems without storage.
We remind you that previously the subsidies for facilities without batteries were 180 euros.
Incentives were granted for solar plants installed after March 1, 2022, where they must be in operation during the application period. Subsidies may not exceed 25% of the total investment.
However, not all batteries are eligible for incentives. Households and companies must install a storage tank with a capacity of 0.7 hours of operation of the capacity of the installed solar power plants. This means that a 10 kW PV system must have a 7 kWh battery.
The total amount available is EUR 20 million, with equal shares for households and companies.
