Without an audience, with the exception of a dozen relatives of the two civil parties. This is how the trial of a former professional firefighter is held, which opened on Monday, January 9, before the Gironde Assize Court. Defended by M.e Florence Herbold, the 45-year-old man is accused of attempted murder of a young woman and rape of a second, in Bordeaux, in 2017. The two women had been attacked in the street.
The camera was requested by Mr.e Lenaïg Hamon, lawyer for the civil party, who denounces an attempted homicide and was absent at the opening of the proceedings. “My client is in a catastrophic state of health. It is a reflection of his traumas. In order for her to come to the trial, the camera seems essential to us, ”she pleaded.
The second civil party, victim of a violation, did not request the non-publicity of the proceedings. After deliberation, however, the court showed that this measure was necessary. The verdict is expected Friday, January 13.
