Portuguese Chamber and Infrastructure define agreement for intermodal station – Notícias de Coimbra
The Council of Coimbra today accepted a proposal for a cooperation protocol with Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) for the preparation of studies for a detailed plan for the future intermodal station, in an intervention area of 141 hectares.
The protocol recovers the agreement already established in 2010 between the two entities, when the requalification of the Coimbra-B refrigeration station was envisaged, in view of the high-speed project that at the time was stopped.
The new agreement, which intends to transform Coimbra-B into an intermodal station, establishes the steps and responsibility for drawing up a detailed plan for the entire intervention area, which will cover 141 hectares, but which will reflect “on a broader area of 273 hectares, including the entire riverside area, Alta and the University of Coimbra”, highlighted the councilor in charge of urbanism, Ana Bastos.
According to the councilor, the detailed plan will be based on the urban study of the area that is being developed by the office of welcoming architecture by Joan Busquets, a Catalan architect hired last summer by IP for this purpose and who was the author of the 2010 for Coimbra-B.
“In 2010, it was an urbanization plan, now it will be a detailed plan, which implies a tighter and more detailed scale”, stressed Ana Bastos, referring that, given the various works that will be the responsibility of the municipality, some may be awarded to external entities.
The autarchy will be responsible for the technical proposal for the development of the plan, public approval, approval and publication of the plan, but also works such as carrying out cartography, traffic studies, noise mapping and environmental studies.
IP is responsible for developing the urban study to support the detailed plan.
During an executive meeting, Ana Bastos announced that on January 18th, at the Coimbra Chamber, the general lines that guide the plan detailed by the architect Joan Busquets will be purchased.
According to the councilwoman, the detailed plan should be completed in less than a year, believing that this time, unlike in 2010, the high-speed project will go ahead.
