To celebrate this first ever in the international cruise panorama, a ceremony was organized on board MSC Magnifica in the presence of numerous authorities, institutions and MSC Cruises management represented by Chief Executive Officer for Italy Leonardo Massa.
Opened by a show of 33 flag-wavers who performed with the flags of the main countries touched by ships, the ceremony it saw the presence of the resident of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti (via video link), of Augusto Sartori and Francesca Corso, respectively Councilor for Tourism, Transport and Work of the Liguria Region and Councilor for Territorial Marketing and Youth Policies of the Municipality of Genoa. The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edoardo Rixi, addressed “the warmest congratulations for the results that MSC is obtaining, especially in the cruise sector, with commendable attention paid to innovation, including commercial solutions, and to sustainability, in one with the great capacity of international projection”.
“Cruises around the world have always been the pride of cruise companies. It is therefore particularly important for us to celebrate this double appointment in Genoa, the host city the most important port in the world for MSC Cruises and where in 2023 we expect to handle approx one million milthus returning to pre-Covid levels,” said Leonardo Massa.
