The SNS24 portal has made more than 20 million medical test results available since May 2022, when the project to share electronic tests began, the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS) said today.
In a statement, the SPMS considered this service “fundamental for the interference and automation of processes”.
The same note referred that the electronic prescription of exams in the primary health care of the National Health Service (SNS) started to cover all areas of the territory in April last year and that the service — through the Internet portal and the mobile application – will continue to grow this year to reach a greater number of labs and people.
“It is very beneficial for users, who now have their exams with them at all times”, said the president of SPMS, Luís Goes Pinheiro, who highlighted the “increase in the transparency of processes” by digitizing this information and faster access, not only for users, but also for health professionals.
According to the SPMS, since April 2022 around 19 million electronic requisitions have been issued, of which more than 90 percent were completely dematerialized (paperless).
Among the areas included by electronic sharing are gastroenterological endoscopies, physical medicine and rehabilitation, pulmonology-immunoalergology and radiology.
