Image showing the indication of 52 minutes of waiting on the Lisbon Metro is it autonomous?
“Only in Lisbon”, stands out, in English, in the caption of an image sent to the Polygraph with a request for verification.
The photograph shows the interior of a Lisbon metro station and part of a notice board with the information of a waiting time of 52 minutes. The angle at which the image was captured does not allow reading all the information on the panel, just the time (10:03) and part of the transport destination station – Santa Apolónia.
Contacted by Polygraph, the official source of the Lisbon Metro states that he analyzes the image in question and that it is a assembly. “The characters are larger than the hours (top line) and even cover the phrase ‘waiting time’ inscribed on the panel”, he informs, also guaranteeing that “the luminosity of the characters is also more intense compared to the top line “.
In addition, the same source guaranteed that on the day the image was sent to the Polygraph (20 December), there was no malfunction in the Lisbon Metro that could have caused such a waiting time for transport.
In short, the image circulating on social networks will have been manipulated to indicate a waiting time of almost an hour. The company responsible for underground transport in Lisbon informs that it has no record of the situation indicated and points to the digital alteration of the photograph.
