Samp Women in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia: clear 3-0 against San Marino
2023 could not have started better than Sampdoria Women who beat San Marino’s “Acquaviva” and snatched the pass for the quarter-finals of the Italian Cup. After the success against Ravenna, Cincotta’s girls beat San Marino Academy 3-0 and win Group A. After a good start from the hosts, Sampdoria gradually gains ground until they corner their opponents. In the 11th minute Oliviero shoots wide from the edge, while in the 15th minute Seghir fails to kick after a blue-and-white defensive misunderstanding. In the middle of the fraction, the Sampdoria teams get themselves a tempting chance: Oliviero’s cross, a wrong San Marino disengagement and Tarenzi’s scissors on which Olivieri passes by deflecting the ball onto the post. In the 27th minute the efforts paid off: Seghir placed, the King’s shot was rejected by Olivieri, Pisani was well positioned and headed home. At the dawn of the second half Seghir made the crossbar tremble from the edge, while Re committed Olivieri with his header. At 19′ King widens for Baldi who crashes at Seghir’s address who misses the target from a few paces away. The doubling is ripe and in the 24th minute Baldi realizes a suggestion from Cuschieri by filing the practice prematurely. In the 35th minute there is joy also for Re who breaks higher than all and scores the final trio.
