Construction work is causing disruptions on the main route
Passengers in Munich have to be patient: on the main route, there are also extensive timetable changes and rail replacement services on Sundays.
Since Saturday morning there have been restrictions on the main route from 6 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.: Some & passengers switch to replacement buses. The reason for this is work on a new electronic signal box, which is scheduled to go into operation in the middle of the year.
On Saturday in particular, there were obstructions on the main route around Munich Ostbahnhof. The railway is putting up new signals this weekend and has therefore had to interrupt rail traffic in places. However, according to “br”, the railway is trying to do most of the work in the evenings or on the weekend.
S-Bahn apply early on almost all lines
Passengers must therefore be prepared for heavy rail traffic on Sundays as well. No S-Bahn trains run between Ostbahnhof and Leuchtenbergring until 2 p.m. Instead, a rail replacement bus service WILL be set up.
S3 and S7 operate normally on Sunday. All other lines turn prematurely, reports the “Abendzeitung”. Lines S1, S2 and S6 coming from the west turn at Ostbahnhof. The trains of the S8 turn at the main station and the S4 in Pasing. Trains coming from the east turn around in Trudering (S6), Johanneskirchen (S8) and Riem (S2). From 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the S1 runs as usual to Leuchtenbergring.
From January 10th, numerous nights will also be affected by the measures. Different timetables apply depending on the time of day. In addition, various sections of the route are closed.
