The USA announced a new aid package to Ukraine
Partners are providing M2 Bradley armored vehicles for the first time
The new aid package includes additional HIMARS, HUMVEE and MRAP armored vehicles, Sea Sparrow anti-aircraft missiles, M2 Bradley light tanks.
The United States of America announced a record package of military aid to Ukraine worth almost three billion dollars. Partners are providing M2 Bradley armored vehicles for the first time. This was announced by White House press secretary Karina Jean-Pierre at a briefing on January 6.
According to her, 225 million dollars are directed to the long-term modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“As expected, it will include Bradley fighting vehicles, which we announced yesterday, self-propelled howitzers, surface-to-air missiles, other equipment and ammunition,” Karina Jean-Pierre said.
Subsequently, the US Department of Defense published a reported list of weapons produced by Ukraine as part of the largest aid package in the amount of $3.075 billion.
The new package included 50 Bradley armored infantry vehicles, 500 anti-tank missiles and 250,000 25 mm ammunition for them.
The US will also send 100 M113 armored personnel carriers, 55 mine-protected vehicles (MRAPs), 138 HUMVEES armored vehicles, 18 units of 155-mm self-propelled howitzers and 18 support vehicles.
The assistance package also includes:
- 70,000 – 155-mm artillery shells;
- 500 – high-precision 155-mm artillery shells;
- 1200 – 155-mm shots of remote anti-tank mine systems (RAAM);
- 36 towed 105-mm howitzers and 95,000 105-mm artillery shells;
- 10,000 – 120-mm mortar mines;
- additional ammunition for artillery missile systems (HIMARS);
- RIM-7 missiles for air defense;
- 4,000 Zuni anti-aircraft missiles;
- about 2,000 anti-tank missiles;
- sniper rifles, machine guns, ammunition for grenade launchers and small arms;
- anti-personnel Claymore minis;
- night vision devices and optics;
- spare parts and other field equipment.
