Napoli, Cesare Pancotto and the new role of head coach: “I have great motivation to bring the team out of quicksand”
Interviewed by Fabrizio Fabbri in the “Corriere dello Sport”, Cesare Pancotto spoke of what he can bring to GeVi Napoli, given his arrival as head coach: “I don’t bring the wind of change, mixed with enthusiasm, which one breathes when the new coach comes from outside. However, I have the advantage of knowing the mechanics of this complicated season very well. I have great motivation and just as much will to take GeVi out of the quicksand. There is the awareness of starting from a good base of work done and of having a structured club behind it, ready for any eventuality. We need to work on ourselves, recover self-esteem because, as they say in my part, it’s not voices and words that make the rankings. We must isolate ourselves from the outside, away from criticism. We’ve heard of the team – talented, hardworking and dachshund gang. In short, everything and the opposite of everything. The time has come for the pitch to speak.”
Cesare Pancotto’s new debut, however, will be at the PalaBarbuto against the leaders EA7 Emporio Armani Milano: “We are aware of the opponent we are going to face. What would change if it were someone else? I repeat, we have to work on ourselves and the first result must be in the mentality”.
Is salvation the ultimate goal? “This new corporate reality is in the second season of A. So the goal to be achieved must be the consolidation that can only pass through salvation. Naples is love, it is history, it is passion. We must multiply our efforts to ensure that a solid future is built through a new present. We are called to reverse the situation in which we have gotten ourselves”.
