Association of Ukrainians in Portugal launches campaign to collect generators
The Association of Ukrainians in Portugal today launched a campaign to collect generators to send to the population of Ukraine, a country hit by war and where winters reach low temperatures.
Running since the 20th of December, the campaign called “A union warmed us” aims to “raise funds for the purchase of household electrical generators”, to be sent to Ukraine and delivered to families, through Caritas Ukraine, from Lviv, regarding the association in a statement.
According to the same source, the campaign has two forms of direct support, the transfer of cash donations to the association’s bank account (PT50 0033 0000 4525 2841 4840 5) and direct donation of generators.
In order to transfer donations to the bank account of the Associação dos Ucranianos in Portugal, it is necessary to specify that the amount donated is intended to contribute to the campaign “A União Aquece-nos” (refer to “GENERATORS”).
Donated generators can be delivered to the association’s various sub-delegations: Lisbon, Abrantes, Braga, Caldas da Rainha, Lagos, Viseu, Águeda, Vila Nova de Gaia, Santiago do Cacém, Leiria, Santarém, Évora and Marinha Grande.
The association also requests that donors make an appointment in advance by email: [email protected] or telephone 963661056.
The association says that, due to the war, “more than 50% of the power stations” have already been destroyed.
Ukraine was invaded by Russia on February 24, 2022 and, according to data from the United Nations, the invasion has already caused the flight of more than 14 million people, of which 6.5 million in Ukrainian territory and 7 .8 million refugees in other European countries.
The UN presented as confirmed since the beginning of the war 6,919 civilian dead, identifying 2,737 men, 1,842 women, 216 boys and 175 girls among the dead.
