The farmers of Haute-Garonne urging to demonstrate this Friday morning in front of the administrative city of Toulouse
A hundred farmers from Haute-Garonne will demonstrate this Friday morning in Toulouse. They planned to dump manure in front of the administrative city. An action to signal their exclusion from the “intermediate zone”, a classification which allows them to obtain aid from the CAP.
The sector of the administrative city of Toulouse may be a little difficult to access this Friday morning, January 6, 2023. A procession ofa hundred farmers plan to gather in front of the premises of the Regional Directorate for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (DRAAF) to protest against a recent measure impacting them.
Several convoys of cars and trucks will converge from Capens, Auterive, Pinsaguel, Aussonne and Villefranche de Lauragais to meet in Toulouse around 9:30 a.m.
The recent reform of the CAP has allocated to cereal growers and polyculture operators in Occitania “an intermediate zone” allowing aid of up to 7,500 euros for farms which cultivate land with low potential. But the map defined by the director of the DRAAF excludes farmers from Lauragais, Volvestre and part of Comminges.
The DRAAF excluded us from this zoning, which allows us to produce on low-yield agricultural land. The director of the DRAAF considers that all of Haute-Garonne does not fall into this intermediate zone and therefore we are not entitled to aid known as MAEC (agro-environmental-climatic measures).
Jean-François Lamassé, president of the FDSEA 31
The representatives of the FDSEA ensuring that all farms are in a radius of 150 km around Toulouse enters this “intermediate zone” to benefit from European aid.
A delegation of farmers should be received by the director of DRAAF. If they do not obtain satisfaction, the farmers consider other actions and block in the coming weeks.
