The condolences of the Captains Regent expressed to Pope Francis, whom they will meet on 20 March
The Captains Regent, Maria Luisa Berti and Manuel Ciavattaattended the funeral of the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVIin a St. Peter’s Square packed with faithful, reports a note from Foreign Secretary. Like other Heads of State and high dignitaries, they took their places in the square of St. Peter’s Basilica to follow the funeral Mass celebrated, for the first time in the history of the Church, by another Pope. Before the start of the celebration, the Regency had the opportunity to say hello Pope francesco inside the Basilica renewing the personal condolences for the death of the Pope Emeritus and recalling his Pastoral Visit to Mount Titano.
Their Excellencies will be accompanied by the Ambassador to the Holy See, Maria Alessandra Albertini and the Director Filippo Tamagnini who, on 19 June 2011, together with HE Berti, and both in the guise of Heads of State, welcomed Pope Benedict XVI to San Marino, in his historic pastoral visit to the San Marino institutions and to the Diocese.
The San Marino Delegation, together with the Heads of State and foreign Authorities present, had the opportunity to share the own condolences and bear witness to profound respect for the extraordinary Pontiff. At this stage, we acknowledge the further strengthening of the special and exclusive relationship which binds San Marino to the Holy See.
