Genoa – Genoa is preparing for another long holiday weekend, during the Epiphany weekend 2023. On the occasion of these festive days there are many i museums and historic buildings open.
The museums open on Epiphany day 2023 in Genoa, Friday 6 January, are:
- Strada Nuova Museums (from 9 to 18.30)
- Castello D’Albertis – Museum of World Cultures (from 10 to 18)
- G. Doria Natural History Museum (from 10 to 18.30)
- the museum centers of Nervi (GAM and Wolfsoniana from 11 to 17 and Raccolte Frugone from 9 to 18.30)
- Villa Croce Museum (from 11 to 17)
- Columbus House (from 10 to 17.30)
- Galata Museo del Mare (from 10 to 19, last admission at 18)
- Palazzo Reale (from 1.30pm to 7pm, last admission at 6.30pm)
- Palazzo Spinola (from 1.30pm to 7pm, last admission at 6.30pm)
- Villa del Principe (from 10 to 18, last admission at 17)
- monumental complex of the Lanterna (from 10 to 18, last admission 17.30)
- Mei (from 11 to 18)
Some museums in Genoa are also open throughout the Befana long weekend. During this long weekend of the Epiphany 2023 it is also possible to visit the two exhibitions which were sold out in the city during the holiday season: Rubens in Genoa (9am-9pm) e Disney. The art of telling timeless stories (10am-7pm). They are both located in the Doge’s Palace: the first in the Doge’s apartment and in the Doge’s Chapel, the second in the portico.
Rubens again: among the museums open in Genoa also Palazzo Nicolosio Lomellino: in the days of Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 January from 10 to 18in fact, the doors are open to guided tours in the name of the Flemish painter.
Genoa was elected European Capital of Christmas and therefore a reference to the author of one of the most famous novels set in the Christmas period could not be missing: A Christmas carol. At the Historic Theater of Villa Duchessa di Galliera, in Voltri, the exhibition Genoa and Christmas through Dickens’ eyes it can be visited on the days of the Epiphany, Friday 6, but also Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 January, in combination with the extraordinary openings of the Sala delle Conchiglie, with the following times: Friday 6 January from 2 to 6 pm; Saturday 7 January from 10 to 18 and Sunday 8 January from 10 to 15.
