Changed about six months ago Jerome Onguene from Red Bull Salzburg to Eintracht Frankfurt, now the 25-year-old is already back in the city of Mozart. As both clubs announced on Thursday, the central defender will appear on loan for the Austrian series champions in the spring. Salzburg does not have a purchase option.
“We are happy about Jerome’s return and are convinced that he can help us. We know him well from the past and appreciate his qualities,” said sporting director Christoph Freund.
Onguené near Frankfurt still without action
Onguené has already played 111 competitive games for Salzburg and scored 13 goals. At Eintracht, the central defender didn’t get a single minute of a competitive game, also due to attacks. Both the adductors and the thigh prepared the Cameroonian, who has a contract in Frankfurt until June 30, 2027, with problems over the course of the season.
Despite Maximilian Wöber’s move to Leeds United Onguené should have his regular place at Salzburg anything but secure. With Strahinja Pavlovic, Oumar Solet (currently with a thigh injury), Kamil Piatkowski, Bernardo, Bryan Okoh and Samson Baidoo, coach Matthias Jaissle has numerous options in central defence.
