Munich today – News from January 5th, 2023 – Munich
Court and police reporters, war correspondents and major political commentators – at some point in their long, highly acclaimed careers, which have been punctuated by journalism awards, they all breathe out this sigh over a cup of coffee: “Oh, you have it good! You can always deal with the beautiful, sitting in smart clothes in the theater or with a clear conscience in a wing chair reading an official, completely trivial detective story” – that’s roughly how their image of us looks, explains their, yes, we do it, tiny little envy.
“Your” are the culture editors. And it’s true: Not even our sports colleagues have as much joy in their work as we do. Or has the world ever heard of a World Singers’ Championship being held through bribery? From a doping scandal in the cultural department? Even.
We in culture can look positively at what is to come. And in Munich there will be a lot in the coming year that gives rise to high expectations, be it in terms of artistic quality or entertainment value. It is of course not the case that war, death and devilish electricity prices do not play any role with all the creative forces that will be at work over the course of 2023. But in most cases this is well packaged: creative, visionary and energetic.
That’s why we’ve put it together cheerfully, that’s why we’re happy – and what should give us the yearning sighs of many a colleague. We love to share all of this with our readers.
