FC Bayern Munich: The heart secret of the new star Daley Blind Sports
Next Oranje star for Bayern!
After Ryan Gravenberch (20) and Matthijs de Ligt (23) the record champion gets the last contractless Daley Blind (32) as a replacement for Lucas Hernández (26/torn cruciate ligament).
What’s special: The Dutchman has been playing with an implanted defibrillator for a good three years!
How come?
In December 2019, after Ajax’s Champions League game against Valencia (0-1), Blind was diagnosed with severe myocarditis. He was then implanted with a defibrillator. Two months later, the national player (99 international matches) celebrated his comeback.
He experienced a moment of shock in August 2020 when Blind became dizzy during the test against Hertha (1-0). His defibrillator had kicked in.
A false alarm, as it turned out afterwards.
On Thursday, 9:01 p.m., the transfer was officially announced! Blind: “I can’t wait to play here. The hunger for titles here at the club was decisive for my decision.”
At the World Cup in Qatar, Blind had been in the starting XI in all five games. Despite this, he surprisingly canceled his contract with Ajax, which ran until the summer, between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Reason: He is said to have fallen out with coach Alfred Schreuder (50/formerly Hoffenheim).
Now the Bavarians strike, bring Blind initially for half a year!
The internal part of the medical check in Munich lasted particularly long, probably because of the heart.
Blind was in the “Barmherzige Brüder” hospital for almost three hours before he was driven to Säbener Straße at 12:20 p.m. There the deal was made perfect!
According to BILD information, Blind gets a very low basic salary, but high bonuses for use.
With Bayern he flies directly to the training camp in Qatar on Wednesday.
Blind can play central defenders and links at the back of the back four. His father is ex-bond coach Danny Blind (61). Privately he has been married to Candy-rae (34) since 2019. Together they have two children (3, 1).
