Controversial but authorized Muslim conference in Avignon
The Muslim association D’Clic based in Valence is organizing a conference in Avignon on Sunday 8 January. In November, the prefecture had asked the association to cancel this conference because of the presence on a poster of the logo of a dissolved association, the Baraka City association, dissolved for incitement to hatred.
The organizers therefore removed the logo from their poster and postponed this conference to Sunday, January 8. The exact location will be communicated to participants a few hours before the conference.
The prefecture considers that there is no threat of disturbing public order. In the name of freedom of expression, the conference is therefore not prohibited.
“Worrying meeting to be banned” for the National Rally
The 4 RN deputies from Vaucluse wrote to the Minister of the Interiorr to ask again that this “worrying Islamist meeting” was not place. Gérald Darmanin replies that it is impossible to prohibit this meeting. RN deputies denounce “the impotence, renunciation and laxity of the government”.
Reconquête Vaucluse is also launching an online petition to refuse “the Islamist offensive of radical preachers” to Avignon.
Call on Muslims to boycott Salafi speakers
The Departmental Council for Muslim Worship calls on Muslims to boycott this conference. Mohamed Moussaoui, the spokesperson for the council of Muslim worship of Vaucluse highlights the speech and the ideas of the three guest speakers: “the three people invited came as belonging to the Salafist movement which advocates a vision not shared by the vast majority of Vaucluse Muslims. They are known for their positions on women or gender equality; they play with the rules by separating legally with an acceptable discourse from the point of view of the law but they do not share our vision of the Muslim religion which is that of a religion of peace and moderation. They are far from that! So we don’t want them to be able to pray or do their propaganda in Vaucluse”.
The association ensures that no radical remarks will be made
The president of the D’Clic association affirms that no radical remarks will be made at this conference by the three personalities invited and that a private security service of twenty people is called upon to ensure the safety of the participants. The conference will focus on current topics, behavior, education, academic success. D’Clic expects 500 people for this conference.
