Chris Bonett denies ‘preferential treatment’ on an Air Malta flight to London
Parliamentary Secretary Chris Bonett denied reports that he requested preferential treatment on a December Air Malta flight to London Gatwick.
According to independent candidate Arnold Cassola, on December 7, passengers on board KM116 were asked to give up seats they had paid for in advance and instead sit in different sections of the economy class.
While they were boarding the plane, the Air Malta check-in officers informed them that their original seats had been reassigned to Bonett and his family, Cassola claimed.
As a result of the “commotion that took place”, the flight was delayed by 30 minutes, he said.
Cassola filed a complaint with the office of the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life, where she asked them to examine the matter.

However, in a post on Facebook on Thursday, Bonett said he had paid in advance to have his family seated next to each other.
“I paid in advance, like several other Air Malta customers do, so that my family, including two small children, have seats next to each other.
“Contrary to the allegations, I did not ask for, expect, nor receive preferential treatment,” he said.
The parliamentary secretary said that this was the last a series of attacks on him.
