Change of leadership at the winter festival – salzburg.ORF.at

The commercial director of the winter festival in the Salzburg Volksgarten, Robert Seguin, becomes the new artistic director of the circus festival. After the previous artistic director, David Dimitri, announced his resignation, the French cultural manager will have a double function in the coming season.
Dimitri has criticized a lack of trust and trust in agency by the Winterfest organizers and announced his resignation. “If the organization of the winter festival decides to hire an artistic director to find and realize new ideas, then it is absolutely necessary that you give this person a free hand and have the confidence that he will do it right. That was missing a bit, that’s a shame and it’s just the way it is now.”
Commercial director operates artistic leadership
The commercial director of the Winterfest Robert Seguin did not confirm such complicated differences. However, he accepts Dimitri’s resignation and now takes over his position. “He (note: Dimitri) has decided to leave and we have to think about the future and plan for the next season. I’ll take over that and I’m already planning for 2024, because big artists have to be booked up to two years in advance and I’m working on that,” says Seguin.
Successful record of this winter season
Four days before the end of the circus festival, the winter festival draws a positive balance this season. The first tough pre-sales can be explained by the new division of the locations: After the redesign of the Volksgarten, there is no longer room for all the tents, and part of the program had to move to the Salzburg scene in the old town. Towards the end of the season, however, all performances are sold out again, and Managing Director Seguin is satisfied that the occupancy rate is over 90 percent.
