With 32 points, Canadian ice hockey player Connor Bedard broke Eric Lindros’ national record for the number of points at the World Junior Championships.
The 17-year-old attacker scored two goals and an assist in the quarter-finals against the Slovakian representative. He helped his team win 4:3 after extra time and advance to the semis.
“The extension to 3 is interesting and everyone has a chance to help the team win. The match was very good because Slovakia has a good team and played better than the preparation before the tournament. We have to achieve 3 dramatic performance of the Slovaks, but we found a way to succeed, ” Bedard told hockeycanada.ca.
The young man, who according to experts will be a draft unit, already has a total of 34 points at the Junior World Championships. He still loses 8 points to the absolute leader Swede Petr Forsberg. Bedard also broke three more Canadian records when he scored his 15th goal against the Pats’ Jordan Eberle, then added the game-winner to bring his total to sixteen. At the same time, he also scored the most points (21) and assists (13) in one tournament.
