Portugal presides over the European Audiovisual Observatory this year
O European Audiovisual Observatory is a body of the Council of Europe that regularly produces and disseminates statistical data on the sector in Europe, and has a presidency that rotates among the member states, with Portugal succeeding Estonia this year.
One of the observatory’s events is a conference, which will take place on June 6 in Lisbon, the program of which has yet to be announced.
“These are difficult times for industrialized audiovisual companies in Europe”, said Marta Sousa in a statement, recalling that that observatory produces important data to “better understand the challenges and solutions” for this sector.
Marta Sousa is part of the international relations office of the Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual, the Portuguese structure that provides statistical information on cinema and audiovisual to the OAS.
Created in 1992 in Strasbourg, to fill in the lack of information about the audiovisual sector, the OAS currently has 40 Member States and a representative of the European Union.
