Worship services: Partner dioceses pay a visit to the Salzburg area
On the day of the Three Kings, on January 6, 2023, the Archdiocese of Salzburg celebrates the day of the partner dioceses. A delegation from these partner dioceses (South Korea, Bolivia, Congo) is staying in Salzburg for this visit and will also hold a service in Flachgau.
SALZBURG/FLACHGAU. A delegation from the three partner dioceses with the bishops from Daegu in South Korea, San Ignacio de Velasco in Bolivia and from Bokungu-Ikela in the Democratic Republic of the Congo visited Salzburg. As the archdiocese announced in a broadcast, the delegation is to stay in Salzburg for a week, visit the archdiocese’s facilities and celebrate services in Abtenau, Mattsee and St. Johann in Tirol.
On the Epiphany Archbishop Franz Lackner will celebrate the day of the partner dioceses with a festive service in the cathedral. The service begins at 10 a.m. in Salzburg Cathedral.
Goal of the partner dioceses
Since the late 1960s (1968), the Archdiocese of Salzburg has maintained four official partnerships with (Daegu) South Korea, (San Ignacio de Velasco) Bolivia and (Bokungu-Ikela) the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The aim of this partnership is to become a common faith, solidarity and learning community. Topics include: youth work, responsibility for creation, congregations without priests and the role of the church in society.
