Thessaloniki: 2,168 traffic violations were confirmed during the holidays
In 89,271 traffic checks carried out, from December 25 to 31, throughout Greece, a total of 17,753 violations were confirmed, according to the data of the Ministry of Citizen Protection. 69% of the offenses related to excessive speed, illegal stopping, failure to use a protective helmet, loss of driver’s license and failure to use a seat belt.
In detail, the violations confirmed by region are: 2,348 in Attica, 2,310 in Thessaly, 2,168 in Thessaloniki, 1,789 in Central Macedonia, 1,581 in Epirus, 1,456 in Crete, 1,392 in Western Greece, 1,392 in Western Greece, 1,392 in Western Greece and in Solid 1.27. Thrace, 902 in the Peloponnese, 442 in the South Aegean, 414 in Western Macedonia, 373 in the North Aegean and 358 in the Ionian Islands.
better, the violations, confirmed: 6,478 for illegal parking, 4,220 for excessive speed, 710 for driving without a valid driving license, 563 for driving while intoxicated, 512 for not wearing a seat belt, 314 for not wearing protective helmets, 295 K.T .EO., 209 uninsured vehicles, 186 for traffic light violation, 124 for using a mobile phone, 115 for irregular maneuvers, 114 for movement in the opposite traffic flow, 100 for noise, 80 for irregular access, 76 , 74 for worn tires, 67 for oncoming traffic on a one-way street, 48 for not using child seats, 31 for overloading, 24 for violation of a traffic signal, 21 for violation of priority, 19 for exhaust fumes, 18 for improper use of 1 movement, at the right end of the road, 14 for distraction driver, 14 for driving in the left lane, two for lack of seat belt, one violation of pedestrian priority in a crossing and 3,307 other violations.
In addition, targeted actions and specialized traffic controls of the Attica Traffic Directorate were carried out on a daily basis throughout the week from December 25 to 31, 2022, in the area of the coastal E.O. Athens-Souni, with the aim of dealing with improvised races, as well as other dangerous violations that lead to traffic accidents, disturb the safety of transportation and the smooth and safe movement of citizens.
A total of 290 traffic checks of drivers and vehicles were carried out, 140 violations were confirmed, the corresponding administrative surcharges were imposed on the locations and an arrest was made.
In more detail, the violations confirmed were: 39 for excessive speed, 20 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 13 for revocation of a driver’s license, 4 for noise violations, 3 for not using seat belts, 2 for not wearing a helmet, 2 for irregular manoeuvres, 1 for a red flag violation and 56 for other violations.
In addition, 7 pairs of license plates, 12 traffic licenses and 15 driving licenses were removed while 8 vehicles were also moved.
As the Ministry of Citizen Protection points out, ELAS attaches particular importance to road safety issues and in this context the checks will continue with undiminished intensity, with the reduction of traffic accidents and accidents.
