Unemployment in Salzburg continues to fall. War in Ukraine, record inflation and energy price crisis have not harmed the domestic labor market so far. With an unemployment rate of four percent, Salzburg, together with Tyrol, even has the lowest value of all federal states.
The positive trend runs through almost all regions, sectors and social classes. The Salzburg labor market statistics break down unemployment according to criteria – women, men, age, economic sectors, districts, in total it is broken down into 20 categories.
Compared to December 2021, each of these categories now has a minus in front of the unemployment rate. The only exception is the construction industry, where unemployment in Salzburg has increased by half a percent. In absolute figures, the increase is probably put into perspective, compared to December 2021 a year later there were 14 more people who were registered as unemployed in the construction industry.
Unemployment now also lower than 2019
Overall, unemployment has not only fallen compared to the pandemic level, it is now half a percent below December 2019. The largest declines were in tourism, trade, temporary work agencies and home care.
Decrease strongest among long-term unemployed
Regional carriers of the Flachgau, the Lungau and the Pinzgau most of the development. The biggest upward trend in the list published on Monday was recorded by the long-term unemployed, with a decline of almost 32 percent. In no other comparative category was the decline in unemployment so great.
