Martin Réway is returning to Slovakia! He will work in Spišská Nová Ves
VES. Hockey forward and participant in two world championships Martin Réway will continue his career in Slovakia.
He will again play for a club from the east of the republic in the extra league. HK Spišská Nová Ves agreed on the contract. In the recent past, the soon-to-be 28-year-old hockey player worked in Košice and Poprad.
The current season started in the second German league in the jersey of Freiburg, for which he played 20 matches with a balance of 6 goals and 17 assists.
Since the beginning of the season, we have been struggling in power plays, which will decide the close matches that await us. That’s why we spent the last weeks looking for players who can help us in them.
Martin is a very creative player with a brilliant hockey idea, and therefore I believe that he will become the conductor of our power play,” said HK Spišská Nová Ves general manager Richard Rapáč.

Spišiak’s boss had several conversations with Réway recently.
“I know that he comes to us motivated with the idea of showing the hockey world that he is still a different player. I believe that the cooperation will be successful and Martin will help our club rewrite history and the success that we all desire.
At the same time, I can also start performing at a level that I can still return to the best European leagues, where you clearly belong among your talents.
In the end, I wanted to thank the GM of EHC Freiburg for fair negotiations and releasing Martin to us,” he concluded Rapper.
In the last eight years, Réway has replaced a total of 12 clubs. In the past, he admitted, among other things, problems with life management.
“The bad reputation goes with me, although I have changed,” Réway claimed in 2018.
His experiences were also known for health problems. He suffered from inflammation of the heart muscle, for which he missed the 2016/2017 season.

“Everywhere I appeared, I belonged to the leader of the team. Suddenly it’s not like that. It is difficult for my psyche, which I have been struggling with for a long time. I have been going to therapy for over a year. I take antidepressants,” he admitted in 2020.
With the junior national team of Slovakia, he won the bronze at the World Cup for under-20 players in the 2014/2015 season. He was the captain of the team at that time. He played for the senior national team at the world championships in 2014 and 2016.
