Another chalet project planned in Mittersill?
timeline
The Salzburg Social Democrats are warning of another chalet village on the Thurn Pass in Mittersill (Pinzgau). Not far from the much-criticized Six Senses location, preliminary work is underway for another project. The municipality of Mittersill says that no project is ready for a decision.
In addition to the Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen valley station, a dozen houses with 100 apartments for foreign investors could be built on steep slopes on more than 10,000 square meters – warns the SPÖ member of parliament Karin Dollinger, who has been fighting second homes and chalet villages in Salzburg for years.
SPÖ suspects that preparations are being made
The local landowner would at least be willing, Dollinger is convinced: “Of course, everyone responsible is trying to keep something under the carpet until it can no longer be maintained. Until it has to go out because you don’t want to scare the citizens beforehand. We know that the people in the congregations really don’t want to put up with that anymore. But unfortunately there are still investor projects that succeed because the citizens are informed too late and then everything is already prepared and nothing can be done about it.”
“Heard about it three years ago”
The SPÖ basic traffic spokeswoman believes that preparations are being made in secret in the Pinzgau community. “Three years ago I heard that another sell-out model was to take place at Pass Thurn in the area of the middle station, where around 500 beds were to be built.”
Congregation: “Nothing is ripe for pronouncement”
But nothing is ready for a decision, says the mayor of Mittersill, Wolfgang Viertler (List Four), even if there is always speculation about land. The country was also not informed about the planning or even the start of a new construction project.
