Two paragliders rescued from tree
timeline
At the Gersbergalm on the Gaisberg in the city of Salzburg, two paragliders were rescued by the fire brigade on Sunday afternoon. The tandem jumpers got stuck in a tree.
According to the Salzburg professional fire brigade, the operation was right next to the Gaisberg Landesstraße (L108) at the bottleneck in front of the Gersbergalm: the tandem paraglider pilot and her female passenger had gotten caught in the tree with their paraglider for an unknown reason. At around 12.15 p.m. they alerted the emergency services.
Freed from a predicament with the help of a turntable ladder
When the professional fire brigade arrived, one of the operators of the Gaisberg flight school was already on the spot. He secured the two uninjured women in the tree, says fire brigade operations manager Thomas Schauer. The fire brigade’s aerial ladder vehicle was then able to free the two women from their predicament from the street.
The two are unharmed, according to the Red Cross. However, an ambulance was on the spot for safety, and the team also took care of the two women. Because of the operation, the Gaisberg state road was closed for around an hour.
