Several traffic accidents over the New Year’s weekend – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – According to the state police, several traffic accidents occurred in Liechtenstein from Friday (December 30) to New Year’s Day. A motorcyclist was injured. Property damage was caused in several cases.
As early as Friday, 6 p.m., a driver reported, according to the police, that he had collided with a deer with his car on the way out of Triesenberg in the direction of Malbun. The deer jumped away.
On the same evening at around 9.30 a.m., a vehicle driver said he had to avoid a fox on Kohlplatz-Strasse in Eschen. Nothing happened to the animal. However, an island protection post was damaged by the evasive manoeuvre.
Another island protection post was slightly damaged on Saturday afternoon on the Austrasse in Vaduz, which was hit by a driver when entering the main road. The driver dutifully reported the mishap, writes the state police.
Just a little later, at 3.30 p.m., a motorcycle driver and his passenger drove too close to a stone on the Selemad side road in Gamprin, which caused the foot of his companion to be trapped between the stone and the motorcycle. The woman had to be taken to the hospital.
On the same day, at 6 p.m., a driver drove west on Lettstrasse in Vaduz. Due to increased attention, he got his car too close to the right-hand side of the road and collided with an iron fence. No persons were injured. However, the vehicle is likely to have been totaled, police said.
A vehicle driver behaved in breach of duty on New Year’s Eve after he crashed into a vehicle that was parked correctly on Badälstraße in Gamprin on Sunday at around 00.45 a.m. The driver first assessed the damage to both vehicles, but then fled the scene of the accident.
