Rain. 840 occurrences recorded in mainland Portugal at 18:10 until
Dand according to an official source from ANEPC, in statements to Lusa, between 00:00 and 18:10 today there were 840 occurrences, “effects of the intense rain, which has caused the flooding of several urban roads and highways”.
The occurrences “that generated the most concern” happened in the district of Viana do Castelo.
ANEPC is not aware of any injuries, “with the exception of the situation at Carcavelos”, a beach in the municipality of Cascais, in the Lisbon district, where the roof of a pizzeria flew off, at 1:45 pm today, hitting a person who had to be hospitalized with minor injuries.
However, there is a record of “various property damage”, in the part of “vehicles dragged” by the waters.
Among the most affected districts are Viana do Castelo, Porto and Leiria, where 208, 193 and 104 occurrences were recorded, respectively.
The head of ANEPC said that on the coastal strip between Lisbon and Viana do Castelo, the meteorological situation “will clear up in the next few hours”, continuing to rain, “but less intensely”.
