Le Jumping de Bordeaux prêt pour ses 50 ans
From February 2 to 5, 2023, the best riders and leaders in the world will meet on the Bordeaux track after two years of absence on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Jumping International.
50 years of Jumping. The program for this anniversary edition, which will take place from February 2 to 5, 2023 at the Parc des Expositions in Bordeaux, once again has great shows and unmissable international competitions in store. After two editions canceled due to health crisisthe best riders and leaders of the world circuit will punctuate this particular vintage.
An unmissable and emblematic event
The Jumping International de Bordeaux is a real turning point in the season of the Longines FEI World Cup for show jumping since it is the penultimate European stage before the final in Omaha, in the United States (4 to 8 april). As a result, the heads have come to tread the Bordeaux track to seek crucial points in order to reach this final. Enough to make the spectators, always there, want to attend the event in the largest hall in France for horse shows (7900 seats). This qualifying Grand Prix for the World Cup, in prime time on Saturday evening, is one of the highlights of Jumping. “It is an event that belongs to history, which is part of the mythical competitions, underlines the world number 3 in the discipline, the Frenchman Julien Épaillard. We love being in Bordeaux, with its friendly, friendly atmosphere, on a human scale, which offers great sport every time”.
Driving has also made its place in Gironde with the FEI World Cup since 2001. Jumping has the privilege of once again hosting the final of the 2022-2023 season of the discipline combining speed, maneuverability and power. Two sessions, where we will find the six best nationals, will ignite the public.
The Devoucoux Indoor Derby, the indoor cross, will also occupy attention. Both on the main track and on the relaxation aid (1000 meter course), big names in the discipline will be present, in particular Karim Laghouag (four times winner, Olympic champion) and the German Michael Jung.
A spectacular opening night
During the big evening on February 2, the Bordeaux public will be in the front row of an extraordinary show. That of Jean-François Pignon with his fourteen horses in total freedom. The Frenchman lives with his horses and integrates with his herd while offering to understand them. “The first part of my show will be the explanation of everything I have discovered about horses. For this, I will meet a horse with which I will try in forty-five minutes of the attraction by arousing his interest and desire. It’s a new concept that I developed during my Patagonian adventure, he explains. The second part will be my new show, Black and White, with and my fourteen horses”.
In addition to this moment of intense complicity, the competition will quickly take over. Jumping innovates and offers a competition-show: the dressage battle. On the track, two teams of three international French riders will compete at three gaits and to high school tunes, judged by judges, spectators and the public via an online vote.
The Salon du Cheval, a dense exhibition
The Salon du Cheval (30,000m2) now has the most important annual meetings for horse-riding enthusiasts. With 220 exhibitors, all specialists in different fields (equipment, transport, care, food, infrastructure, leisure), the Bordeaux exhibition is an optimal destination for gathering information on the world of horse riding.
Beyond this Show, the organizers wanted to put the Equine Health Forum back on the agenda, a real moment of sharing between professionals in the equestrian sector and riders. The speakers at this crossroads of ideas will propose themes around well-being, performance and training.
