le chantier naval Clyd œuvre à Bassens en attendant d’être aux Bassins à flot
“For the moment, we are working in Bassens, explains Exequiel Cano-Lanza, founder of Clyd. The ”Noé” arrived in an advanced state of rust, we stripped the hull with very high pressure water thanks to a Bordeaux company, then we redid the paint, i.e. 1,200 m² of surface, and carried out some mechanical works. It remained to redo the bridge, which will be carried out in Rochefort by other companies.
Other expected careers
At the end of 2023, the shipyard will move to Bassins à flot, on 1,600 m². Occupying half of the site, the design office currently located in Arcachon will be able to develop ship decarbonization solutions. The other half will be a covered hangar where the ships will be overhauled to remove their engines running on conventional fuel and replace them with low-carbon solutions, electricity, hydrogen or biofuels. “The operation consists of cutting the hull, removing the motor and replacing it with an electric motor or a hydrogen fuel cell and its batteries. There will be no hydrogen storage. We can also redo the hull to reduce friction on the water and reduce fuel consumption,” explains Exequiel Cano-Lanza.
