December 2022 was the warmest since 2010 – The data for Thessaloniki
The meteorological stations of the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr recorded the warmest December in terms of maximum temperatures throughout the country, except for Thessaly where December 2022 was only 0.1°C cooler than the corresponding month in 2020.
The map shows the deviations of the maximum daily temperature values in the month of December 2022 by geographical region, compared to the average value of the period 2010-2019.
In Northern and Western Greece there were most days with positive deviations of maximum daily temperatures compared to the average value of the period 2010-2019. Out of the 31 days of the month, in Corfu 29 days were warmer than normal for the season, as also in Florina and Ioannina, 28 and 27 days were recorded respectively with positive deviations of maximum temperatures compared to the average value of the period 2010-2019 .
In fact, in Florina, one of the warmest days of the winter was recorded since the weather station started operating in 2007, with a maximum temperature of 20.7ºC on 12/17, which was 14.6°C higher than the average value of the period. 2010-2019.
in Athena most days of the month were warmer than the climatic values, with +1.9°C deviation of the average value of maximum temperatures in Athens and 22 days with positive deviations. Similar conditions were recorded in Thessalonikiwith 26 days of the month they are not particularly warm for the season, and the average value of the maximum temperature deviation does not reach +2.3°C.
