Lithuania has something to be proud of: the hotel decorated by Mantas Petruškevicius in Bucharest attracted the attention of Romanian TV
M.Petruškevičius admits that the invitation to festively decorate a luxury hotel belonging to the “Marriot” chain in Bucharest made him happy and inspired him for new creative solutions. What’s more, Mantas was surprised by the attention of the Romanian media – the television was interested not only in the decorated hotel, but also in himself. The main news channels of the country announced that the five-star hotel “The Marmorosch Bucharest” decorated by him is the most beautiful and “most Instagrammable” in the country. Everyone who can, from all over the country goes to the capital to capture the impressive decor, and social networks are breaking from the posts published by Romanians about the magical ideas of the Lithuanian, according to the press release.
“I am sincerely pleased that the owners of this hotel chose me as the author of the Christmas decor idea. With a hotel company Apex Alliance Hotel Management I had to deal with it before, but this was the first time I implemented a decor project of this scale in a hotel managed by them. The task was also exceptional due to the location – the luxury hotel is located in the heart of Bucharest’s old town, and the building itself has impressive architecture and a unique history. At the end of the 19th century, the then famous Romanian bank operated here, and its architecture is permeated Art Deco and Art Nouveau heritage Now it has hundreds of rooms, a wonderful spa with a pool, a restaurant with French cuisine, and a cocktail bar in the former safe. I believe that my decor will start a new Christmas tradition here and during the holidays the townspeople will come here to get a festive mood”, says M.Petruškevičius.
Mantas says that before starting the work, he was worried about how to reconcile the delicately elegant exterior and his creative style, often with extremely rich details, for Romanians. 140 chandeliers were used for the decoration of the facade, and even a 7-meter fir tree was impressively decorated in the hotel lobby: “I tried to maintain delicacy, but also not to distance myself from myself. I received compliments not only from the architectural team of the restaurants, but what is always the most important for me, from ordinary residents of the city. No one knows me in Romania, but passers-by admire me, stop, take pictures, and come from other cities especially to see my work and get in the spirit of the winter holidays. I had full creative freedom, and the doctor trusted me and agreed with the idea that it is not only important to have a festive interior decor, which can be enjoyed more by those staying there, but also how the building will look from the outside. I wanted to create Christmas for all residents of Bucharest. Apparently, it worked out well.”
