Foreigners working in Portugal? IEFP received 144,000 applications
“ONE Today’s date we have 144,000 foreigners who signed up in the last two months [no Instituto do Emprego e da Formação Profissional -IEFP] signaling his willingness to come and work in Portugal”, said the minister.
Ana Mendes Godinho spoke at a press conference with the Ministers of Economy, António Costa Silva, and Finance, Fernando Godinho, about the balance of activity in the areas supervised by these ministries and perspectives for 2023.
At issue is the new job search visa, created when the law of permanence in Portugal was amended, which provides for the possibility for foreigners who want to come and work to Portugal to register on the IEFP website.
Ana Mendes Godinho also added that in the context of the Portuguese response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis, the latest data point to the ability of 7,100 Ukrainian citizens to integrate into the labor market.
In March, a simplified mechanism was approved for obtaining temporary protection by Ukrainian refugees, preventing citizens arriving in Portugal from having the guarantee of being in a regular situation, being automatically assigned a tax identification number (NIF ), Social Security identification number (NISS) and National Health Service (SNS) user number.
