Prime Minister of the Brussels-Capital Region Rudi Vervoort (PS) has decided to abuse the possession and transport of recreational fireworks by individuals in public space. The ban applies from December 23, 2022 to January 9, 2023, safe.brussels records. The ban comes at the request of the chiefs of the local police: it must ensure the safety of police officers on the site on New Year’s Eve to a minimum.

Safe.brussels has activated the RCCR regional crisis center to ensure that everything runs smoothly. This supports “the unique command for the Brussels territory, the tools for supervision in the analysis of collected information and the coordination of emergency and intervention services”, it sounds. The regional crisis center is activated every year on the occasion of a dozen EU and NATO summits, in the context of a terrorist threat of possible major disasters and in view of a thousand demonstrations of events.
In addition, the federal hygiene inspection of the FPS Public Health Services has requested the release of resources for urgent medical assistance in the Brussels-Capital Region. Because revelers are more often involved in minor, but not very serious accidents, New Year’s Eve is traditionally immersed in a busy night. For example, seven additional ambulances will be deployed in the night of December 31 to January 1.
