Nico Mantl, reserve goalkeeper from series champions Red Bull Salzburg, is on loan to Danish first division club Aalborg BK until the summer. The 22-year-old German came to Salzburg from Unterhaching in January 2021 and has played ten times for the Bulls since then. The 20-year-old Czech Adam Stejskal, who has been active in various Salzburg teams since 2018, will take the place behind first goalie Philipp Köhn.
Rumors about Schlager
“It’s important for Nico that he gets playing time now,” explained Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund. “We hope that this will be the case with his loan. We are still well occupied in the goalkeeping position in the spring and have complete trust in Philipp, Adam and Alex (Walke, 3rd goalie, note).”
In the summer there may be some changes to the one position anyway. According to the latest media reports, goalie Alexander Schlager, a former Red Bull junior player, could return to his old place of work. The 26-year-old announced on Wednesday that he was leaving LASK at the end of the season. In addition, the Swiss Köhn has recently been repeatedly associated with a move to a top league.
