An American aircraft carrier and its 5000 crew members stopover in Marseille

The sailors take advantage of this stopover of a few days to discover the city of Marseille, but also Provence. “This is my second visit to France, and the port of Marseille is my favourite”, says Tykia Smith, member of the crew, to BFM Marseille Provence. “Tomorrow, I plan to take a guided tour of the city center after my service, then I will join my friends,” she adds.
American sailors will experience the transition from the year 2022 to the year 2023 in Marseille, before returning to sea at the beginning of next week for an indefinite period.
