Internet shopping experienced the biggest increase in Slovakia during the pandemic years 2020 and 2021. During the lockdowns, most shops were closed. After two strong years, Slovak Post recorded a decrease in the number of shipments.
“The competition is great. After the successes of the parcel business last year, almost all competitors were setting capacity for further growth. Unfortunately, further growth did not come,” added Mindek.
The situation is similar for private companies
During this year, private companies also noticed a decrease in interest in online shopping and courier services.
“During the pandemic, there were several lockdowns that lasted maybe three months in total. For us, this meant that practically overnight, the number of orders for the transportation of parcels increased by 100 percent.” explained the general director of the Slovak Parcel Service Ján Ťurek.
