New Year’s Eve in Pisa, no glass and barrels in the centre. Entertainment in the square and fireworks
The safety ordinances have been issued in view of the New Year’s Eve which provide for a ban on private individuals from setting off firecrackers and fireworks in the streets and squares of the historic center and a ban on the sale, administration and consumption of drinks in glass containers.
The New Year’s Eve program includes the “New Year 2023 Celebration” evening event starting at 10.00 pm in Piazza dei Cavalieri, with DJ Aladdin and little guy of Radio Deejay and M2O and, after Midnight, the show case of Dargen D’Amico Besides Blond and DJ Masciotti. At Midnight fireworks are expected from the Ponte di Mezzo.
Prohibition of bursting firecrackers and private fireworks in the historic city center areas. From 20.00 on 31 December 2022 to 06.00 on 1 January 2023, it is forbidden to light and throw pyrotechnic articles with a burst, fuse or rubbing effect (fireworks, firecrackers, , firecracker). Failure to comply with the ordinance will be punished with an administrative fine ranging from a minimum of 25.00 euros up to 500.00 euros. The measure is necessary to “avoid or limit situations of danger and discomfort as much as possible, especially within areas such as a large number of people will flock to for the 2022 Year-End celebrations and in which they have been organised, by the Municipal Administration, free shows for the occasion”.
Ban on the sale, administration and consumption of drinks in glass containers. From 20.00 on 31 December 2022 to 06.00 on 1 January 2023, it is forbidden for public establishments and commercial establishments in the historic center to sell and/or administer drinks in glass containers (bottles, glasses, etc.), with the obligation to use only plastic or paper containers. The administration of drinks in glass containers is permitted only and exclusively within public establishments and their pertinent areas (external tables, dehors, etc.). It is forbidden for anyone to introduce and keep glass containers (bottles, glasses, etc.) in the areas of the historic city centre. Failure to comply with the ordinance will result in the imposition of an administrative fine ranging from a minimum of 25.00 euros up to 500.00 euros. The reason for the ban is to “avoid the risk of physical injury as a result of the dispersion, on the ground, of glass containers and bottles, subject to easy breakage and, therefore, potentially suitable for causing injury to people”.
Finally, for New Year’s Eve the ordinance ordering the closing at 02.00 of the public establishments located in the historic city center is suspended.
