Lucas Tauzin confides his resentment over his numerous injuries
Zapping World Fifteen “I’ve come a long way”, Mathieu Bastareaud revels after his comeback
On these last performances with Stade Toulousain, Lucas Tauzin seems to convince his staff. A contract extension will even be under consideration for the U20 world champion, who is part of a golden generation but has never been able to assert himself because of too many injuries which have slowed him down in his career.
Asked by Actu Rugby about these physical glitches, Lucas Tauzin evokes them with a lot of philosophy. He even understands the fact that the staff expects a lot from him and has often been frustrated on his case (Ugo Mola said in a press conference: “he often left us hungry”). Such remarks can hurt, that’s for sure. Especially when you’re young. But they can also serve as additional motivation, and that’s what Lucas Tauzin tried to do.
It will happen to everyone to bless themselves. Afterwards, I admit that I had a string of stupid injuries. My career is like that. It was not easy every day, to put in a few good performances and then be stopped in the momentum and go to the infirmary. That this is pointed out, I hear it. But injuries happen to everyone.
(…) I know in what sense and why Ugo said that. He is also right: each time I have been able to string together good performances, I have been stopped by an injury. It happened several times. Basically, I completely understand what he wanted to tell me, and it didn’t upset me. It’s up to me to prove that when I come back, I show the player I am and want to be…
It is now to be hoped that the worries linked to injuries are behind Lucas Tauzin and that he will be able to flourish transformed within this Toulouse team, which seems well armed this season to aim very high. Whether in the Top 14 or in the Champions Cup.
to summarize
Lucas Tauzin is in great shape at the moment with Stade Toulousain. The winger spoke about his numerous injuries which often bothered him, and which could have frustrated even his staff. A situation that he evoked with a lot of philosophy.
